Alas, dear readers, I remain hopelessly behind in bringing you our southbound adventures for 2017. Current circumstances do not auger well for this situation to alter for a week or so and for this I proffer sincere apologies.
We have crossed Bass Strait at last (that's a story for later!) and are currently in Hobart where your scribe's UN Forces Reunion has begun, a festivity which is set to continue until Wednesday next (25 October).
Given that we are not ensconced in the host venue in central Hobart, but have taken up residence in the Hobart Airport Caravan Park, some 15 kms or so distant, we have an added burden with both timings and transport. This is far from insurmountable but does mean our days are necessarily somewhat more demanding than for those who are 'on site'.
And I have to say that if our first foray into the meeting and greeting of colleagues old and new such as occurred yesterday afternoon and evening is any indication, things are shaping up to be a little hectic to say the least, great fun but hectic! And let's be brutally frank, none of us are getting any younger....longer recovery times have to be factored into the daily schedule.
Once we leave here, we are off for an open ended stay with friends who live south of the city when a relative calm will again descend on the lives of the Mobile Marshies. All things being equal, I should then be back at the keyboard with gusto and determination.
