Well, after our (almost) three months in Kurrimine Beach we are back on the road. I know I'm again miles behind with our travel tales, but over the next few months we'll be sitting tight in several spots which will give me the time to catch up.....promise!
The last few weeks in KB were pretty hectic for a number of reasons, not least of which was a wonderful week when son Cameron came to stay. We naturally did a lot of sightseeing and were most relieved when we actually managed to find him a cassowary or two at Etty Bay (as we had rather rashly promised!). This was closely followed by four days taken out for a return to Adelaide a week ago (for one of the best weddings we've ever attended), so time has slipped by.
We actually left KB on Sunday last, but have not yet gone far. After two nights catching up with good friends in Mission Beach we have spent the past two days in nearby Cardwell, but as of today things get moving.
Our plans vary between now and Xmas, with some firm commitments and periods when anything could happen.
Today we shall be pushing about 250 kms further south to Home Hill. With a long weekend looming, we have booked into Sarina (for the second time....great park and we have to stay away from the coast which will be chock-a-block with kids for the last weekend of the school holidays).
After four nights there we are looking at staying in the Yepoon area for five days (probably at Emu Park) before moving south to Moore Park Beach (just north of Bundaberg) where we look forward to catching up with other good travelling friends who now live there.
This catch-up will be followed by a four day visit to Maryborough, a town through which we have passed on five occasions to date, but never tarried. This is about to change! A stay here also leaves us within convenient striking distance of Caloundra where our upcoming UN Forces Reunion will keep us (well) occupied between 19 - 25 October.
At this stage we are planning to tarry in Caloundra for another couple of weeks, which will take us into the second week in November. Between then and 23 December, when we are due to arrive at the magnificent Standown Park to spend Xmas and New Year with another group of 'friends of the road', things are somewhat up in the air.
We are currently looking a a number of 'house sitting' opportunities. If they fall through, we shall just toddle around the Sunshine Coast and probably spend some time in the Rainbow Beach area, but that remains to be seen.
Post New Year everything is up for grabs. We should be on 'The Track', heading north to Ayers Rock and on up to Katherine and into WA by about late April, but at this stage our plans for the intervening three months could best be described as 'extremely fluid'.
As I've said before.....stay tuned!
