ANOTHER REAL TIME UPDATE (4 JULY 2015)

As will be obvious, we have done so much over the past two months that I'm falling further and further behind with the blog. This has not been helped by the fact that we have spent quite some time in places where we have had not access to the Internet.

I therefore thought it time for a quick update as to our present position, progress to date, and projections.

As I write at 1000 hours on 4 July, we are sitting pretty in Tennant Creek.  We arrived here yesterday after a very hectic previous night in the Daly Waters pub and some serious socializing during the preceding week in Katherine. After a 400 kms day to get here from 'The Waters' it is time for a breather.

In 'blogtime' we are just about to reach Broome (19 May), where we spent (a very previously unplanned) twelve days.  From there we made our way to, and stayed at, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, Kununurra, and Lake Arglye before finally, after twenty months, leaving WA (I am still talking about the west as 'here' rather than 'there'!)

Since crossing into the Northern Territory we have pitched our tent at Timber Creek, Katherine, Mataranka and Daly Waters en route to our current location.  And had some real fun and games!

From here, as planned, we shall leave either tomorrow or Monday to head east across the Barkly and Flinders Highways (this decision is somewhat wind dependant) to reach the east coast at Townsville (and thence north to Kurrimine Beach) on 13 July. We remain on track and on schedule.

We have seen and done so much in the past few weeks that it is difficult to ensure that things do not become something of a blur, but hopefully the myriad of photos and notes we have taken will preclude that. But that does cause a problem.....editing. I am finding that each blog at the moment is necessarily preceded by at least two hour's work sorting and downsizing photos....hence the lag.

So, dear readers, I crave your patience. Our projected route over the next nine days or so includes a number of free camps where I am sure our electronic comz will be questionable, if they exist at all.

The only upside of our plans from now on (blogwise) is that, from the time we hit Threeways and the junction of the Stuart and Barkly Highways yesterday, we had completed our circumnavigation of the country (high fives all round) and from now on we shall be covering 'old ground', albeit in the opposite direction. I therefore do not propose to revisit our upcoming destinations other than to record some of our campsites for future reference.

Notwithstanding this respite, I suspect that it will be well into our second or third week in Kurrimine Beach before I catch up.

Let me conclude with another update....our return to Adelaide.  I can now advise that we shall be arriving back in our old home town on 17 October.  We have a confirmed booking in the Windsor Gardens caravan park 17 October - 2 December before we move to Adelaide Shores (West Beach) 2 December - 5 January.

All our necessary medical specialist and other appointments have been made (as far as we could at this point) and the Test cricket begins on 27 November...all is right with the world!

So I shall continue to blog away when I can, but it will be some weeks before 'blogtime' and 'realtime' again align. Modesty prevents me from suggesting it will be worth the wait!!
